Spark Telecom. A2P SMS, RCS, Voice, and DID solutions across Mexico & LATAM.

At Spark Telecomm , we believe connectivity is built not only through technology, but through clear regulations, solid infrastructure, and an ecosystem that enables better service for everyone. That’s why we stay at the forefront of every change impacting our industry.

Today, we’re sharing the key updates about Mexico’s National Numbering Plan, in effect since July 2025.

What changed?

The new National Numbering Plan eliminates the Regional Identifier Numbers (NIR) and introduces 8 geographic zones, now defined by municipalities instead of states.

This means, the former system that identified the region of a mobile number based on its NIR is no longer valid.

Spark TelecommAll numbers are now managed under a unified “National Number” structure.

Benefits for the industry and end users
